Each classroom is divided into learning centers consisting of blocks, art, math, science, dramatic play, language and literature and a writing center. Children are given opportunities to learn about the world around them and gain new skills through exploration and experimentation in the classroom and on the playground. North City Preschool staff strive to provide opportunities for children to:

- gain independence and decision-making skills
- socialization through cooperative play, problem-solving and negotiating
- develop phonemic awareness, rhyming, and word sounds
- recognition of letters, numbers, and names
- experiment and practice writing, drawing, and copying
- develop language and literacy through listening and reading stories and informal conversation
- develop large and small motor development
- gain an understanding of how God loves them deeply
